The launch of the Land Cruiser back in 2024 has been a great success, and it seems Toyota is quite content with keeping the winning formula unchanged for 2026.
The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser has a compact body and a rugged exterior that invokes the spirit of the first generations of the Land Cruisers. This SUV has long been known for its off-road capabilities and extreme durability, making it an off-road icon and giving it an edge over its competitors such as the Lexus GX, Toyota Sequoia, Toyota FJ Cruiser, and the 4Runner. The Land Cruiser's competitive starting price offers great value.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is available in the 1958 and the Base trim. Both come with a Hybrid 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the same one found in the Tacoma series. This relatively new hybrid powerplant keeps the Landcruiser up to date with today's environmental demands. It has been paired with an electric motor attached to the Bell housing in between the engine and the eight-speed transmission to help increase torque output and efficiency. This i-FORCE MAX powertrain helps the Land Cruiser make an impressive 326hp and 465 lb.-ft of torque and can be found in the two variations of the Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser 1958 is the Base trim, and it already comes with a surprising number of standard features. The 18-inch wheels tastefully compliment the exterior. Unique off-road stats include an approach angle of up to 31-degrees, max departure of 22-degrees, breakover angle of 25-degrees, and ground clearance of up to 8.7-inches, letting the owner explore rugged terrains. More off-road features include off-road recovery hooks, fog lamps, crawl control, and downhill assist control. Interior features include seating for up to five people, black fabric heated manual seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Toyota's latest audio multimedia system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and over-the-air updates, smart-key system, push-button start, remote connect app trial, 18-inch wheels, and hill start assist. Land cruiser grade adds multi terrain select which helps control wheel spin in a variety of conditions. The multi-terrain monitor is also added with ground camera functionality. A front stabilizer bar disconnect which allows increased flex during off-road conditions also comes standard on the Land Cruiser. Other features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated SOFTEX trimmed seats, Wi-Fi hotspot, colour selectable RIGID fog lamps, and rectangular headlamps. For 2026, two new paint colors are available, as well as bumper guard options, a cooler box option, a liftgate light, and larger than life 20-inch wheels. An optional premium package can be added to the Land Cruiser that adds a 14-speaker JBL Premium sound system, illuminated entry with illuminated running boards, digital Key capability, power moonroof w/sunshade, center console cool box, digital rearview mirror, wireless charging, memory power driver's seat, head-up display, lane change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist. Toyota is big on safety, all the trims include the Toyota safety sense 3.0 system. This package contains the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and proactive driving assist. Other standard safety features include blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and hill start assist.
