The Toyota RAV4 has consistently been America's best-selling SUV hitting the "Goldilocks" sweet spot, balancing substantial SUV presence with effortless city maneuverability. It offers enough interior volume to escape the "lifted compact" feel while remaining nimble enough for tight urban parking. While it excels as a daily driver, the RAV4 remains a capable adventurer, proving it is a genuine SUV rather than a mere suburban pretender when the pavement ends. For its full redesign in 2026, the Toyota RAV4 lineup consists exclusively of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Toyota has made a significant push for fuel efficiency with this new generation, eliminating the previous gas-only engine options. In addition, the new plug-in hybrid model, which joins the RAV4 lineup, offers an increased all-electric driving range and more horsepower. For 2026, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid offers multiple trim levels, with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive available on the LE, SE, and XLE, and all-wheel drive exclusively on the Woodland, XSE, and Limited trims. It is equipped with a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that centers on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. This engine is integrated with a high-efficiency electric motor system and is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The system provides a balanced output of 183 horsepower and 163 lb.-ft. of torque from the gasoline engine alone. When combined with the electric motor, the total system output increases to 226 horsepower in the front-wheel drive model or 236 hp in the all-wheel drive model, with 172 lb.-ft. of torque. A Continuously Variable Transmission manages power delivery. Toyota estimates the most efficient configuration will achieve EPA ratings of 48 mpg city and 42 mpg highway, though official EPA figures are pending. The RAV4 Hybrid is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 7.1 seconds. For the 2026 model year, the entry-level LE trim of the Toyota RAV4 offers a strong focus on essential technology and efficiency. Standard exterior features include 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and roof rails.
